2020 will be an extremely spectacular year for tennis professionals in particular: In addition to the usual highlights, the ATP Cup, the renewed Fed Cup and the Olympic Games in Tokyo are other highlights.

Naturally , these special events were not hidden from Kiki Bertens either. For this reason, the ninth in the world rankings from the Netherlands will compete for their home country in both the Fed Cup and the Olympic Games.

First Fed Cup appearance since 2017

Bertens will be used for the first time since 2017 at the Fed Cup, the winner of which will be determined in mid-April in a tournament consisting of twelve teams. Together with Aranxta Rus, Lesley Pattinama Kerkhova and Demi Schuurs in The Hague against Belarus the leap to the final tournament in Budapest should be successful.

Fed Cup captain Paul Haaruis was very pleased with the decision of his top player: "It is very nice that Kiki is available. This increases the chances of the team massively. Belarus is a strong opponent, but with this team and the support I'm very confident of the Dutch audience. "

Bertens in Rio with first round loss

Bertens also wants to hold up the Dutch flag at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in summer. The 28-year-old competed in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, but lost to Sara Errani in the first round of her Olympic debut.

"I always enjoyed playing with the other girls in the Fed Cup and I'm looking forward to competing for the Dutch fans in February. I took everything into account and decided to go for the Netherlands in the Fed Cup and the Olympics Play to start, "Bertens commented on her decisions.
