In both 2018 and 2019, Alexander Zverev fixed the victory for Team Europe at the Laver Cup and in 2021 the German could again play an important role in the fight against the world selection: As in all three previous editions of the team competition, the newly crowned Olympic champion will be for the European team emerge.

The fifth in the world rankings thus complements an already extremely strong team: Before Zverev, Roger Federer, Dominic Thiem and Matteo Berrettini had already confirmed their appearance. However, there are still some question marks behind the performances of the Swiss and Austrian due to injury concerns.

After Zverev's commitment, team captain Björn Borg can already expect good chances of winning the fourth victory in the fourth duel. However, Team World, which is coached by John McEnroe, will also have a powerful team: So far, Denis Shapovalov, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Diego Schwartzman have confirmed their participation.

This year the Laver Cup will be held in Boston from September 24th to 26th. If the corona pandemic allows, the three-day tennis spectacle will take place in front of full spectators.
