Lewis Hamilton was once again not happy with his Mercedes team on Sunday afternoon. From his point of view, a tire strategy that was wrong had cost the seven-time Formula 1 world champion a place on the podium at the Dutch Grand Prix. Teammate George Russell ended up there instead. As you know: The maximum penalty for every ambitious racing driver.

But before Zandvoort was about points, Hamilton shared his admiration for Serena Williams with his Instagram followers.

Hamilton friends with Venus and Serena

"We will never see anyone like Serena again," Hamilton writes. "She is unique. She performed like a wrecking ball and was so spectacular to watch. She has such a will to win, power, and strength both mentally and physically. To be so confident, black, brave, and above all, a kind and empathetic person is just beautiful.”

“I remember watching her first and Venus matches on TV with my dad. To see such talented women dominate a field where nobody looked like them gave me hope. Because of them, I believed that superheroes really existed... I never thought that I would meet these heroes and later call them friends. I know I've never been alone because of you. I know I could never give up because you never did. I can't thank you two enough.”
