What an achievement by Philipp Kohlschreiber! In the continuation of the night match against tournament favorite Novak Djokovic, which was canceled on Monday, the native of Augsburg was able to adjust to the changed conditions much better than the Serb. Kohlschreiber varied better, played more consistently, and made fewer mistakes. In the end, Djokovic had more than 30 avoidable mistakes in his testimony.

After the German won the first set, Djokovic, five-time winner in Indian Wells, gave up his serve right at the start of round two. After the break to Kohlschreiber's 5-2, it looked almost certain after the second victory of long-standing number one against Djokovic in ten attempts.

Novak Djokovic managed a first rebreak to 3: 5, then won his serve to zero. In the next game, however, Kohlschreiber used his first match ball - by putting a forehand on the line. In the round of 16 Gael Monfils is now waiting for the native of Augsburg.

Kohlschreiber explained that he was the more active player after the match, and that the plan had worked out perfectly. The move had benefited him, but he had made Djokovic not play his best tennis.
