All of the top stars should start in Miami

Although the Miami Open won't start for around a month, the picture around the combined ATP / WTA event is already becoming clearer. Only a few days ago the organizers announced the general conditions - such as a "player bubble or the significant decrease in the prize money - and now the entry lists have also been published.

The few fans - around 20 percent of the actual capacity this year - can look forward to great fields of participants from both men and women. With Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Daniil Medvedev, Dominic Thiem, Roger Federer and also Alexander Zverev, all male stars have announced their participation in the first ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the year. To date, none of the top 100 players have been rejected.

Only Yastremska is missing

The situation is similar with the women: With the exception of Dayana Yastremska, who is banned due to a doping offense, all players from the top 75 are planning to start in Miami. In all likelihood, fans will also see world number one Ashleigh Barty, Australian Open winner Naomi Osaka and local hero Serena Williams.

In view of the corona pandemic and the numerous injuries in the tennis circuit, the organizers around tournament director James Blake will still have to deal with one or the other cancellation in the coming weeks. However, one thing already seems certain: the spectators will experience great tennis in Miami.
