Mona Barthel reaches the round of 16 in Cluj-Napoca
Mona Barthel has overcome her opening hurdle at the WTA tournament in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

The 31-year-old from Neumünster prevailed on Monday 6: 3, 7: 5 against the Hungarian Anna Bondar. In the round of 16 she will now face Bernarda Pera (USA) or Marta Kostjuk (Ukraine / No. 6).
For Barthel it was again a sense of achievement after three first round defeats in a row. Anna-Lena Friedsam (Neuwied) also fought on Monday at the tournament to make it into the round of the best 16.
