Johanna Konta has said goodbye to the tennis scene

The three-time Grand Slam semi-finalist Johanna Konta ended her tennis career at the age of 30. The British, once number four in the world, announced this on Wednesday via social networks. "I am so incredibly grateful for this career," wrote Konta: "I was able to live my dream through my own resilience and the support of others."

The Sydney-born Konta won four titles on the WTA tour, but at the Grand Slam level she was denied the big hit. She reached the semifinals at the Australian Open (2016), the French Open (2019) and Wimbledon (2017) - at the lawn classic in London she was even the first British woman in the semi-finals since Virginia Wade in 1978.

From a sporting point of view, the British have already found a successor in US Open winner Emma raducanu. One of Johanna Konta's many talents was also her great virtuosity in the kitchen, which she repeatedly demonstrated at the big "Bake Off" and also on YouTube.
