Novak Djokovic is still hoping to appear in Melbourne

While the Serbian team is currently fighting for progress at the ATP Cup in Group A, the country's number one is still in Marbella. Novak Djokovic is currently doing his training hours in Spain, but apparently hopes to be on a plane to Australia soon.

Because as pictures in the social networks show, the world number one trains with the official balls of the Australian Open. Whether Djokovic will also play with these in Melbourne from January 17, should be decided in the coming days.

According to media reports, Djokovic is currently waiting for a decision by the Australian authorities regarding an exemption that has been applied for. This would entitle the 34-year-old to serve at the first Grand Slam tournament of the year.

So far, Djokovic had left his vaccination status open and the associated start in Melbourne. Should the industry leader actually start in Australia, he could leave Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal behind with his 21st major triumph.
