Can Novak Djokovic take part in the Australian Open in 2023?

The last Grand Slam tournament of the year in New York only ended on Sunday, but some eyes in the tennis world are already squinting at the Australian Open next year. In particular that of Novak Djokovic , who was not allowed to enter the USA due to a lack of vaccination against the corona virus and was therefore unable to take part in the US Open.

At the beginning of the year, the longtime world number one had already missed the Australian Open and issued a three-year travel ban after his deportation. Now Djokovic can hope to be able to start in Melbourne next year.

According to a report by the "Herald Sun" , the new Australian immigration minister, Andrew Giles, is said to be ready to lift the restrictions against the 35-year-old. Djokovic only has to object to the current ban, the article goes on to say.

Currently, travelers are no longer required to present proof of vaccination or testing upon arrival in Australia, but a visa is still required. With nine titles, Djokovic is the record winner at the Australian Open.
