Now fix - US Open 2020 take place!

The US Open of tennis professionals should take place as planned - but without spectators. As New York governor Andrew Cuomo announced on Tuesday, the event will be held in New York, which has been hard hit by the corona pandemic.

The game is to be played from August 31 to September 13. Only two weeks later, the main field of the twice-postponed French Open in Paris is scheduled to start.

So far, of the four Grand Slams, only the Australian Open has taken place. The All England Championships in Wimbledon were canceled early.

In recent days there has been harsh criticism of a planned event, especially in view of the proposed quarantine and hygiene regulations. The world number one Novak Djokovic, for example, mocked that only one companion per player should be allowed. The planned isolation of all participants in a hotel at JFK airport had also caused discomfort.

The reactions of the top players to the implementation of the US Open are still pending. On Monday it became known that USTA is planning a small series with the events in Washington (men only), Cincinnati (women and men) and just the US Open.
