The rise of Ons Jabeur has fascinated the tennis world for years and has made her a heroine not only in the Arab world. But after her injury, the Tunisian won't be able to kick ass in 2023. At the tournament in Miami she lost in the first round against Varvara Grachewa 2:6 and 2:6.

With its tennis, Ons Jabeur is a real eye-catcher for many fans. With her sophistication, she manages to set herself apart from the often monotonous playing style of the ladies. This is how she became a fan favorite – and successful. With reaching the Wimbledon final in 2022 at the US Open in the same year as two big highlights.

But this year it doesn't want to go at all for the 28-year-old. At the Australian Open, she lost in the second round. She then underwent minor surgery and returned to the tour in Indian Wells. But she also lost early in the round of 16 in the Californian desert. And now in Miami it was even a lap earlier. In her first match in Florida, she didn't stand a chance against Varvara Gratschova, number 54 in the world. 2:6, 2:6 it was called in the end.

With the score 0:3 in the second set, Jabeur took a medical timeout and it almost seemed like she could come back again. The number four seeded favorite won two games in a row. But it should remain their only games in this set. Mistakes followed mistakes in her game afterwards and she couldn't cope with the power of her opponent.

In this form, the Ons Jabeur from 2022 seems to be from another world.
