Novak and Hampel dueled for 2:24 hours before Novak ranked first with 6: 3, 6: 7 (2) and 7: 6 (5). In the crucial tie-break, Hampel had already led 3-0, Novak came up again - and moved into the final with the last mini-break of the match.

There the Austrian number two meets Sebastian Ofner, who delivered a convincing performance against Lucas Miedler. Ofner, who beat Dominic Thiem in the Generali Austrian Pro Series, won 6-2 and 6-2. Ofner is well known for his final opponent, not only from some Davis Cup trips.

For women, Julia Grabher made it to the final with a win over Mira Antonitsch and 18-year-old Sinja Kraus. Grabher and Kraus will open the final day on Saturday in Oberpullendorf at 10 a.m., Novak and Ofner will then play for the title of state champion. ORF Sport + will broadcast both finals live.
