The double specialist, who had triumphed alongside the Austrian Jürgen Melzer in Wimbledon in 2010 and at the US Open in 2011, takes on the job as national youth coach. The German Tennis Association (DTB) announced on Monday.

"I have experienced a great deal in my career and know what is important. I can give that to the juniors and give them one or two valuable tips along the way," said Petzschner. The 35-year-old had played his last ATP tournament in Antwerp in October 2018. Born in Bayreuth, he won eight double titles and one single title on the professional tour (2008 in Vienna).
