Possible comeback - does Serena play Tom Brady?

Wasn't that the case with Serena Williams ' career after all? At least she didn't rule out a comeback when she appeared on a US TV show.

Serena also has things to do off the court

American sports journalists are better than almost any other species at conducting discussions about who is the greatest of all time in a sport. In ice hockey, the consensus seems to be Wayne Gretzky for this role, in basketball, according to the latest reading, Michael Jordan is just ahead of LeBron James, in baseball the situation is the most unclear. When it comes to football, there's no objection to Tom Brady as GOAT.

Brady, now 45, had already made himself immortal as a quarterback for the New England Patriots by winning six NFL titles. The fact that he then upped the ante with Tampa Bay Buccaneers took Giselle Bundchen's husband to the next level. That of the immortals. Especially since Brady has resigned from time to time since his 40th birthday at the latest, but has always left a back door open for a return to the football field. And so he is back in the Bucs' huddle in the season that has just started.

Serena likes to play in Australia

Serena Williams can keep Tom Brady company in the ranks of the immortals, especially since the soon to be 41-year-old, as a shareholder in the Miami Dolphins, also has a certain interest in football. But how big is Serena's interest in a Brady comeback? In any case, an appearance on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon gives a little reason to speculate that the farewell performance in three acts at the US Open could be followed by an epilogue.

Tom Brady would have made an interesting example, said Serena only. But combine that with her statement in New York City that she's always loved playing in Australia, et voila!

Lots of commitments off the tennis court

In fact, however, there are a few things that speak against it: For example, Serena hinted in her remarkable VOGUE article that she would like to be a mother again. Then there are the many commitments outside of the tennis court, which make orderly training hardly possible. And then maybe the fact that Serena doesn't play to fill a tableau. But to win. And although she managed to win against Anett Kontaveit at the US Open, it takes a good deal of imagination to triumph in a major with the required seven match wins in a row.

Regardless of whether Serena really comes back or not: when it comes to GOAT status, the US media outlets are just as unanimous about her as they are about Tom Brady.
