Tennis star Rafael Nadal has climbed one position to fourth in the world rankings after his 14th triumph at the French Open. The Norwegian Casper Ruud, who had clearly lost the final in Paris against the Spaniard, even achieved the best position of his career with sixth place.

Novak Djokovic is at the front until next week. The Serb, who was eliminated by Nadal in the quarter-finals at Roland Garros , will lose his top spot to Russia's Daniil Medvedev on June 13 as points from last year's success in Paris are disregarded. Olympic champion Alexander Zverev remains third. Dominic Thiem fell back to 198th place, Austrian number one remains Jurij Rodionov (129).

In the women's race, Poland's Iga Swiatek leads the rankings after her victory in Paris, with a wide margin over Anett Kontaveit of Estonia, who gained three places. As the best German, Angelique Kerber follows in 18th place.
