Rhineland-Palatinate has made some legal easing in the field of sports. As the country announced on Saturday, certain sports facilities may already be used for training purposes from Monday alone, in pairs or with people from your own household, provided that the required hygiene and safety measures can be observed. In addition, the carrier of the respective sports facility must expressly agree to its use beforehand.

The relaxation affects individual sports outdoors such as rowing, sailing, tennis, air sports, athletics, golf or riding and similar sports in which the ban on contact and the minimum distance can be observed. "The relaxation of the previous requirements is a moderate and important step back into normality for many citizens, for whom sporting activity is an essential element of physical well-being, which they had to do without for weeks," said Rhineland-Palatinate Sports Minister Roger Lewentz the measures.

Hordorff and the DTB advocate timely openings

The German Tennis Federation, under the leadership of Vice President Dirk Hordorff, had recently pleaded for a timely opening of the club facilities; in Berlin and Brandenburg as well as in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, it should be possible to play under the conditions mentioned again next week.

For federal squad athletes, economically independent, association or association-independent professional athletes without federal squad status and professional teams of the federal leagues of all sports, there should be additional relief. Lewentz appeals to all athletes to be "responsible" with the loosening and to "carefully observe the distance and safety rules".

At the TennisBase Zentral in Oberhaching in the south of Munich, some players with Philipp Kohlschreiber, Julia Görges, Peter Gojowczyk or French Open double champion Kevin Krawietz are already training under these same circumstances.
