"We'll need him on the court for the next ten years," said Federer, saying, "I like Nick and I like the way he plays. We'd rather have him on the court than in the comment box."

The world ranking-52. Kyrgios, number 13 in the world in 2016, had incurred the displeasure of his compatriots at this year's "Happy Slam". He lost his first round match 4: 6, 6: 7, 4: 6 against Milos Raonic (Canada / No. 16) and complained of pain in the right knee.

"I've been away from home for five and a half months during the last season and never really want to do that again," Nick Kyrgios

Shortly thereafter, Kyrgios posted a picture that showed him playing basketball with former NBA professional David Lee, the fiancé of world rankings third Caroline Wozniacki (Denmark). Sensible crisis management looks different.

Even before the season started, Kyrgios, the sloppy genius, had complained of his travel fatigue.

"I've been away from home for five and a half months during the last season and I never really want it again. I play enough tennis. I'm always fed up when I get home," said the 23-year-old and announced this year want to play fewer tournaments than in 2018 - there were a total of 15 events including the Davis Cup.

Kyrgios had even said before the start of his home slam that if he won the Australian Open, he "would probably not play for the rest of the year."

It will be interesting to see whether the 1.93-m-Schlaks with the golden hand and the chronically irritated aura will eventually find peace on the tour.

In any case, the worm also appears to be in 2019. Before he started in Brisbane (round of 16 against Jeremy Chardy), "Kygs" had been bitten by a spider and had to spend a night in the hospital.
