So also the question of what his thoughts were when his two match balls were fended off by Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final in 2019. We remember: Federer had a 40:15 lead here at the score of 6: 7, 6: 1, 6: 7, 6: 4 and 8: 7, just getting his first match balls with two aces. /

At the first ball to win, however, he moved badly and made a forehand. In the second, he attacked a harmless return Djokovics only half-heartedly - and was passed.

"No problem," said Federer's first thought. “Of course, I would have liked to have won this at that moment instead of standing at the start again. On the other hand, being in the debut with your own serve is still a very good starting position. ”In this respect, he felt good at that very moment about his chances of winning, despite“ the slight worry that he might go back In the end, everything could happen so quickly, and he did not remember this moment to the extent that he thought everything was really bad.

Federer: Up to the last three points in a good starting position

Federer initially ran after a break in the fifth round, then equalized and took the lead to 8: 7, which in the end compensated for Djokovic. He also fended off another Brakball Federer at 11:11 when a maestro's passing ball landed just off the line.

The match tie-break was quick, however, and it was here that he felt that it was going to be difficult. "I was in a good starting position up to the last three points of the match," Federer continued. "From there I realized that it will be difficult to come back now."

Federer, however, apparently no longer looks back with resentment. "What was the final ... I'm glad I was part of it."
