Serena Williams feels "fit like never before"

In early 2020, Serena Williams won a WTA tournament for the first time in three years. At the Australian Open, however, the dream of the 24th major title was once again unfulfilled. Serena is coping well with the pandemic-related break.

Serena wants to attack again soon

Serena Williams (38) can't wait to get her tennis racket back after the corona crisis. "I'm really excited to be back on the court," said the 23-time Grand Slam winner in a conversation with sister Venus (39) on Instagram. The two legends put together a workout on the social network - bread for Venus almost every day - the older one of the Sisters has already toured with Alexander Zverev , Grigor Dimitrov and Naomi Osaka .

Serena Williams described the forced break as a necessary evil. "I felt that my body needed this break, even though I didn't really want it," said Williams, who recently won one of the big four tournaments of the year at the 2017 Australian Open: "At the moment I feel better than ever." At the beginning of the year, Serena was successful at the WTA tournament in Auckland, but then failed early in Melbourne due to Qiang Wang from China.

Due to the pandemic, all tennis tournaments have been canceled until mid-July. The French Open was postponed to September, Wimbledon was completely canceled for the first time since World War II. Whether and when (and also where) the US Open can be held this year is currently a hot topic in the USA.
