Will Serena Williams return again?

Serena Williams has always been different - in the most positive sense of the word. And so it is hardly surprising that the 23-time individual Grand Slam winner also said goodbye to tennis differently than many players before. The American never really wanted to use the word resignation.

Nothing has changed since her last appearance at the US Open 2022 against Ajla Tomljanovic. "I've never fitted into a box anyway. Never," Williams said in an interview with "CBS Mornings." "I just feel like retirement is such a big word for someone my age."

However, this statement is not to be understood as an indication of a comeback. Because currently, according to the 41-year-old, she can hardly imagine returning to the tour. "It's hard to say, but I would say 'no' at the moment because I've dedicated my whole life to tennis and it's time I dedicated my life to something else," Williams replied when asked about a possible one Comeback.

Williams left at least one back door open with this statement. However, their fans should not have too high hopes for a return of the long-standing world number one.
