Williams will start a decent tournament schedule: The tournament starts in Toronto on August 8th and in Cincinnati on August 15th. And on August 29, the US Open is on the agenda of the 23-time major winner.

Williams made her comeback at Wimbledon at very short notice after missing the tour for exactly a year. However, she lost to Harmony Tan in Round 1 at the All England Club.

Serena Williams wants to 'get better'

In the current world rankings, the former number 1 is no longer listed due to a lack of tournament participation.

Williams is still aiming to win her 24th singles Grand Slam title, equaling the official record holder Margaret Court.

"I won my first Grand Slam title at the US Open, it will always be something very special," Williams said at Wimbledon about her participation in Flushing Meadows. She is therefore very motivated to "get better and play at home."

Williams is taking part in both the Canadian Masters tournament and in Cincinnati for the first time since 2015. In recent years, she had usually preferred another tournament besides Cincinnati before the US Open, such as San Jose or Lexington.
