Nick Kyrgios first posted an Instagram post on Friday morning. "Wimbledon final," he wrote next to it - with a hearty laughing emoji. /

At the press conference on Friday, Kyrgios was still incredulous about everything. Getting into the final because your opponent didn't show up was of course not the way you imagine it, he explained. Especially since he would have liked to play against Nadal. And the extra day off: Contrary to popular belief, it is not necessarily an advantage. "It's a shock for the body," explained Kyrgios, "because I've played so many matches lately." At a Grand Slam tournament, the rhythm is to play one day and have a day off to slow down a bit. Well, with three, almost four days? He might not have to recreate a match scenario in training, but he should practice a little more extensively in order to play the same routine for himself.

He slept badly after the news of Nadal's withdrawal, "maybe an hour", he felt scared, nervous, "and usually I'm not nervous".

Nick Kyrgios: First come down

Of course, Kyrgios was also asked about the Insta-Post, how he was like as a child. "I was hungry," he replied, laughing. He grew up in Canberra, the places were terrible for him, "and now I have the chance to play a Wimbledon final." It might also be an inspiration for other children who are outcasts and always get negative headlines. "It's possible to achieve something special if you believe in yourself." In the photo, Kyrgios added, he looks like Manny from the Modern Family series.

The important thing now is that he rests. Too many thoughts went through his head last night, imagining the match as it would be if he won or lost. It is a premiere for him, so Djokovic has an advantage. Currently he is a bundle of energy himself, turned up, he wishes for the finale to come quickly. And know that he has to come down now, after all there is still some time until then. "I hope to get better sleep tonight. Chamomile tea and better sleep."
