Swiss Tennis postpones the Rado Interclub until late summer 2020

Provided that the current state of emergency due to the coronavirus COVID-19 should have been lifted and the situation should have normalized by late summer, the 109th Interclub Championship will be held from the 29th / 30th of May instead of the beginning of the season. August to 26/27 September 2020. "The Interclub is the centerpiece of national tennis and, if it is possible in any way, we want to make this popular team event possible for over 30,000 participants," said Swiss Tennis President René Stammbach, who further explains: "It is planned to host five clearly defined weekends takes place in August and September, with the exception of the national leagues A & B for the active, where special rules apply, there are no promoters or relegations this year and we are accommodating if already registered teams want to withdraw. » Only the highest division in the Interclub, the National League A, is scheduled to run from July 28th to August 9th, 2020.

From Wednesday, March 25, 2020, 12 noon, clubs that have already registered can withdraw from the log-in area at www.swisstennis.ch without incurring any costs for the newly scheduled Interclub Championship.

Team Challenge until 2021

The newly developed Team Challenge, which should have taken place across Switzerland in autumn 2020, will be postponed to 2021.

Anniversary fund is partially dissolved

The central board of Swiss Tennis has also decided to return the majority of the funds invested in a fund for the association's 125th anniversary, which it can celebrate in 2021. This is the sum of CHF 500,000.00. "We will not celebrate a tennis festival if our members fight for survival," Stammbach clarifies. "The money that has been saved for the anniversary over the past few years will be added to Swiss Tennis's equity and will help to compensate for lost earnings."

Like the facilities of its member clubs and centers, the Swiss Tennis National Performance Center is closed with the office, residential and training facilities for the national team, restaurant and fitness center. A task force called by the association at the beginning of March is committed to the concerns of members in this exceptional situation and works closely with Swiss Olympic and the Federal Office for Sports BASPO. Swiss Tennis welcomes the financial package announced by the Federal Council for Sport and the introduction of the Corona replacement income regulation, which is now also being applied to the self-employed who are affected by a complete employment problem in tennis.
