It starts again on May 19th!

It took a long time before tennis could really pick up speed again in Austria, but the time will soon come: From May 19, singles and doubles in the traditional sense will be possible again, as well as tournaments and group training indoors. and outdoor areas can take place again.

According to the current ordinance of the Ministry of Health, the prerequisite for all these activities is "evidence of a low epidemological risk". Specifically, this means that only tested, vaccinated or recovered people are allowed to enter the Austrian tennis facilities.

No compulsory testing for vaccinated and convalescent people

The period of validity of the various tests is different: The self-test, which is recorded in an official data processing system, is valid for 24 hours from the time of the test. The period of validity for an antigen test is 48 hours, for a PCR test 72 hours. Self-tests on the facility are recognized as well as school tests; this proof is not required for children under 10 years of age

For people who were first bitten at least 21 days ago or who have already been vaccinated twice, the test is not required, as is the case for players who can be shown to have had a corona infection within the past six months. The same applies to people who can provide evidence of neutralizing antibodies. This must not be older than three months.

Gastronomy and changing rooms open

Due to this regulation, visiting the restaurants and using the wet rooms and showers in the clubs will again be possible on the tennis facilities.

As the Austrian Tennis Association announced on its website , he and the regional associations will "continue to campaign intensively for tennis, the clubs and members and demand further opening steps so that tennis can return to normal in these challenging times". From May 19th, however, the first thing to do is to get used to the "new normal" on the country's tennis courts.
