The world rankings 90. Taylor Townsend is expecting her first child. The American announced this on Instagram.

From a sporting point of view, Taylor Townsend's 2020 could have been better. The 24-year-old only won one victory on the WTA tour this year, including the Challenger tournaments, the American has a meager record of four wins and six losses.
But Townsend still has every reason to be happy: As she announced on Instagram, the world number 90 awaits. their first child. "Life has a fun way of getting you exactly where you are supposed to be. I'm really excited to be embarking on the maternity journey," wrote Townsend.

What pregnancy means for your athletic career is of course not yet clear. Townsend was once - also thanks to her unorthodox style of play - one of the most exciting American talents, was number one in the junior world rankings and won a total of four titles at the junior Grand Slam tournaments in 2012, one in singles and three in doubles .
Townsend also demonstrated her qualities in doubles at this year's US Open. At the side of Asia Muhammad she failed only in the semi-finals against Nicole Melichar and Yifan Xu. Performing in doubles, Townsend can already do that - certainly not bad conditions for a soon-to-be mother.
