The organizer announced this on Tuesday. The world number one from Poland wants to prepare for Wimbledon at the third edition of the grass tournament in the Kurpark. In the season just ended, Swiatek should have started in Berlin at the WTA Tour 500 event there, but had withdrawn her participation late. Much to the annoyance of the organizers.

Swiatek is the reigning title holder at the French Open and the US Open and caused a sensation last season with 37 consecutive wins on the WTA tour. This series had come to an end on grass: Swiatek, who won the junior competition at Wimbledon a few years ago, lost to Alizé Cornet in two sets.

Incidentally, Caroline Garcia won the title in Bad Homburg this summer. The French, who ended the season a few days ago as the winner of the WTA Finals in Fort Worth, defeated Bianca Andreescu in the final in Bad Homburg.
