The duo prevailed in the final 7:6 (7:3), 7:5 against the top seeded Elise Mertens/Veronika Kudermetova (Belgium/Russia) and thus achieved their second success in a short time.

Siegemund/Zvonareva only triumphed at the tournament in Lyon at the beginning of March when Siegemund made her comeback after knee surgery. Both also won the US Open together in 2020 and after ten events together they now have three trophies.

Siegemund "never expected" to be so successful again so quickly after returning to the tour: "It's just so nice to be able to move without pain, to concentrate and to play good tennis." The 2020 French Open quarterfinalist is also part of the German team fighting Kazakhstan in Nur-Sultan on April 15 and 16 for a place in the final round of the Billie Jean King Cup.
