Von Arnim received 108 votes, there were no votes against and 17 abstentions. He had previously served as President of the Niederrhein Tennis Association (TVN), and from 2000 to 2012 he was tournament director of the ATP World Team Cup at the Rochus Club in Düsseldorf. Vice-President Dirk Hordorff, who is responsible for top sport, was unanimously confirmed in office.

"There are four main points on my agenda", von Arnim had told SID before the election: "Communication, marketing, marketing and structural reform." He is convinced that "tennis can be more successful because it has an incredible amount of potential."

Klaus took over the office in November 2014 as the successor to Karl Altenburg. Now he withdrew after the general assembly had decided on a much discussed change in the statutes. According to this, state presidents can now also be on the DTB Presidium.

During Klaus' term of office, the long-term process with the ATP, which had cost the association a lot of money, ended and the DTB's own tournament at Hamburg's Rothenbaum was re-awarded.
