US Open: 16-year-old Spaniard mixes up the juniors

16 years old, blond hair, that's how he came along: Martin Landaluce, the newly crowned champion of the juniors at the US Open 2022. At the French Open, Landacluce had failed in round one, in Wimbledon he had already made it to the semifinals, well so he can trade as a Grand Slam winner. After a final win against Gilles Arnaud Bailly, whom he had already defeated in round three at Wimbledon. In New York, Landaluce won 7:6 (3), 5:7 and 6:2 after a playing time of 2:14 hours.
Incidentally, for Bailly it was the second defeat in a Grand Slam final for juniors this year. In Roland Garros he was defeated by Gabriel Debru.
17-year-old Alexandra Eala from the Philippines won the junior title. Nothing came of it in doubles with a German success: Carolina Kuhl and Ella Seidel lost the final against Lucie Havlickova and Diana Shnaider 3:6 and 2:6.
