Daniil Medvedev is in the final of the US Open

After the US Open 2019 and the Australian Open 2021, Daniil Medvedev is in the final of a Grand Slam tournament for the third time in his career. The Russian beat Felix Auger-Aliassime in the semifinals with 6: 4, 7: 5 and 6: 2.

In the first set, a break to make it 4: 3 was enough for the second in the world rankings, but in the second round it was Auger-Aliassime who got off to a better start. The Canadian missed two set balls when the score was 5: 3 and then had to give up his serve. It was something like the beginning of the end for the 21-year-old, who lost 13 of the last 15 points in the second section and had to watch how Medvedev doubled his set lead thanks to a 7: 5.
