Peter Gojowczyk was in a particularly hurry. The man from Dachau made short work of Francisco Cerundolo, who went into qualifying as number two. Gojowczyk only had slight problems closing the match against the Argentine in the end, but ultimately won with 6: 4 and 6: 3.

Oscar Otte was responsible for another big fight. The 23rd seed from Cologne had to go over three sets like he had against Renzo Olivo and Constant Lestienne, this time Otte at least saved a decisive tiebreak. The 28-year-old won against Bernardo Zapata Miralles 6: 4, 3: 6 and 6: 3.

Maximilian Marterer already had the victory in mind in the duel with the Frenchman Maxime Janvier in the tiebreak of the second set at 6: 5, but then had to give over the full distance. The match is still going on.

As the fourth German, Mats Moraing still has the chance to move into the main field of the last major of the year. Moraing meets the Danish youngster Holger Rune. Alexander Zverev, Jan-Lennard Struff, Dominik Koepfer, Philipp Kohlschreiber and Yannick Hanfmann are already represented in the 128 grid.
