Andy Murray vs. Matteo Berrettini - this hit would actually be good enough for a night session at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Friday. Let's see if the tournament officials in New York City agree. In any case, the advance performance promises an exciting encounter. Because both Murray and Berrettini showed their best side in the decisive phases on the third day of the tournament in Flushing Meadows.

Murray was allowed to open the game against Emilio Nava in the Ashe, losing the first set 5:7. After that, the Scot took command and won the following three rounds 6:3, 6:1 and 6:0. Berrettini had started his match against French lucky loser Hugo Grenier a few minutes later, and the Italian also had a cold start.

Berrettini wins against Murray in Stuttgart

In contrast to Nava in the match against Murray, Grenier did not let up in his encounter with Berrettini afterwards. This game almost went into a fifth set, but the Frenchman couldn't convert a set ball in the tie-break of the fourth act. And so Matteo Berrettini went 2: 6, 6: 1, 7: 6 (4) and 7: 6 (7) as the winner from the third largest stadium of the National Tennis Center.

The history between Murray and Berrettini is still rather short, the Italian leads in the balance sheet with 2.1 victories. The last meeting was this summer in the Stuttgart final, which Berrettini won in three sets.
