He could of course have jumped in the air, threw up his arms. Or fall on your knees, like the great Björn Borg. Or as usual, if Daniil Medvedev wins something: do nothing. /

This time, however, Medvedev had decided to cheer: So after the transformed match point he fell to the side on the floor, stuck out his tongue and lay motionless for the time being. And while most of the tennis world was wondering when in the world it was supposed to be, a large part of the gaming world was immediately aware of what it was.

"L2 + Links" is the secret code or the cursor combination for the "Brick Fall Celebration" aka "Dead Fish Celebration" in the Playstation game FIFA, and Medvedev explained at the press conference how he came up with it.

Medvedev and the confused thoughts before going to sleep

One night at Wimbledon he couldn't sleep and a few confused thoughts flashed through his head, like every other person that happens. His thought: what if he won at Wimbledon, in the end against Djokovic? "Not to celebrate there would be too boring. Because that's how I always do it. So I wanted to do something, but something special."

Because he likes to play FIFA on the Playstation, the "Dead Fish Celebration" occurred to him. "If you want to annoy your opponent, you do it all the time. If you score a goal, if you lead 5-0 ..."

He spoke to the boys in the locker room, "they said it was legendary". He didn't do it to appear in the newspaper, "I wanted to make it legendary for myself, I wanted to make people laugh, my friends I play FIFA with."

The only side effect: "I hurt myself a bit", explained Medvedev, because the soft Wimbledon grass from the original thought was not what he could fall into after all. His conclusion: "It's not that easy to get that on a hard court."
