In absolute terms, there were even more fans in Germany for the final of the US Open 2020 between Alexander Zverev and Dominic Thiem than in Austria: an average of 800,000 spectators watched the slightly more than four-hour game on Eurosport.

In relation to the size of the population, Thiem's attractiveness in its home country was many times higher. Over the entire duration of the game, there were an average of 400,000 fans who followed the 27-year-old Lower Austrian's first Grand Slam success on ServusTV. Which means a market share of almost 30 percent among viewers aged twelve and over.

12:27 AM - An increase to 404,000 as Dominic wins the third set.

01:09 am - 320,000 are there when Thiem manages the sentence adjustment

1:15 a.m. - The lowest level: 290,000 when Alexander Zverev sets 1: 1 in the 5th set.

02:08 am - Another increase to 354,000 spectators when the tiebreak begins!

02:19 am - An unbelievable 334,000 spectators are still there live at the match ball!
