US Open draw for men: Zverev opens against Anderson, Djokovic and Thiem with a good draw
The men's draw for the upcoming US Open is here. Novak Djokovic is playing his first match against Damir Dzumhur , while Dominic Thiem , who is second, meets Jaume Munar . Alexander Zverev landed in Stefanos Tsitsipas's quarter, but has to jump a high hurdle with Kevin Anderson in the first round.

The world number one Novak Djokovic opens in New York against Damir Dzumhur. Then it would go for the 17-time Grand Slam winner against Kyle Edmund or Alexander Bublik. In the third round, Jan-Lennard Struff, the first seeded player, could wait. The 17-time Grand Slam winner had recently clearly beaten the Germans in the quarter of Cincinnati. The Serbs’s potential quarter-final opponent is David Goffin, who is in seventh place.
Like Djokovic, Alexander Zverev landed in the top half and played his opening match against Kevin Anderson. Then it would go for the German against Paolo Lorenzi or Brandon Nakashima. The first opponents set would be Adrian Mannarino (third round) and Hubert Hurkacz or Diego Schwartzman (round of 16).
Zverev's possible quarter-final opponent, Stefanos Tsitsipas, will meet Albert Ramos-Vinolas at the beginning and would play against Borna Coric in the third round as scheduled.
Thiem with a good draw
Dominic Thiem, who is in second position for the first time in a Grand Slam tournament in New York, faces Jaume Munar in the first round. If successful, the Austrian would duel with Sumit Nagal or Bradley Klahn before Marin Cilic would be the planned opponent in the third round. According to the seeding list, Thiems continues its way into the semifinals via Felix Auger-Aliassime or Dan Evans (round of 16) and Roberto Bautista Agut or Karen Khachanov (quarter-finals).
Last year's finalist Daniil Medvedev, who like Thiem can be found in the lower half of the draw, plays against Federico Delbonis in the first round. The Russian's potential opponent in the quarter-final is Matteo Berrettini
Aside from the absolute superstars, there are two special highlight games at the start: David Goffin vs. Reilly Opelka and Jannik Sinner vs. Karen Khachanov.
The US Open will start on August 31st. It was not yet clear which half would open immediately after the draw. You can read here which games the women will play.
