Alexander Zverev had his problems with South Tyrolean Jannik Sinner in the quarter-finals of the US Open 2021. It is therefore all the more important that Germany's number one remained without a set loss even against the youngster, but in the end safely bought the ticket for the round of eight at the US Open.
In the quarter-finals, the German will now face South African Lloyd Harris, who has already celebrated a number of notable successes this year. With Dominic Thiem and Rafael Nadal, Harris defeated about two top 5 players. Harris also took his strong form directly with the North American swing, which the South African is now crowning with the quarter-finals of the US Open.
In the round of the last 16 on Monday, Lloyd Harris was able to demystify the service giant Reilly Opelka after he was able to win the first round somewhat happily despite the break deficit. From then on, however, the 24-year-old dominated the action in Flushing Meadows, with 6: 7 (6), 6: 4, 6: 1 and 6: 3, Harris made his first major quarter-final perfect. So far, getting into the third round of a Grand Slam has been the highest of emotions for the South African.
