One can confidently assume that the majority of the players will take note of the announced return of the fans to the Billy Jean National Tennis Center with joy. With one small caveat, perhaps: The luxury suites, in which the 32 single players have found a temporary place to stay, are now being given away to sponsors and interested private individuals for expensive money.

No DaCapo of the ghost games at Arthur Ashe Stadium, a development that was announced with the announcement that Cincinnati would play in front of a full house. One wants to orientate oneself at the US Open to the COVID-19 guidelines. What this explicitly means was not initially stated. The neighboring New York Mets, for example, recently announced that they will fully occupy individual sectors - but only for fans who have already received full vaccination protection.

It is also unclear whether the opening for fans is even relevant to the European audience. After all, there are still restrictive travel restrictions between the continents. In any case, the regular advance ticket sales will start on July 15th.
