The crux of the match was probably the fifth game in the second round: Rodionov had just countered an early break by his opponent, but it took an extremely long time to take a 3-2 lead with his own serve. When the Austrian succeeded in doing this, Petrovic immediately gave up his service again. And Rodionov, who delivered a total of ten aces with only one double fault, then had no more problems closing the game 6: 4 and 6: 3.

In round two there will now be a meeting with either the Australian Matthew Ebden or the Italian Federico Gaio. Rodionov, who started the qualification in 19th position, is also a slight favorite in this game.

The second Austrian in the qualification grid, Sebastian Ofner, will meet Jason Jung from Taiwan.
