The Thursday of the second week at the US Open belongs to the little tennis fans during the day session. This is the one who doesn't want to or can't afford the sporting entrance fees at the last major of the year, but still wants to see good tennis. For some time now, it has become common practice that well-priced tickets are sold for the two women's semi-finals, which begin at 7 p.m. local time. These matches will of course take place at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
All other games can be admired for free. And there are traditionally the semi-final matches in doubles for men and women, plus games for the juniors, who are already in the final phase of their tournament.
A first highlight this year was Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury, the two defending doubles champions, in their meeting with Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah. The two couples played each other for 3:12 hours, with a score of 6:5 in the third set, the Colombians already served to win the match, Ram/Salisbury were able to counter. And finally won 7:5, 4:6 and 7:6 (6).
In the final, local hero Ram and his British partner will now face either Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski or French Open champions Marcelo Arevalo and Jean-Julien Rojer.
