While the American tennis fans had to digest a historic debacle in the two singles competitions, they can continue to hope for a Grand Slam victory for one of their compatriots, at least in the men's doubles. Because Rajeev Ram bought the ticket for the final alongside Joe Salisbury with a 7: 6 (5) and 6: 4 success over Steve Johnson and Sam Querrey (both USA).

The duo, seeded in fourth position, did not have to fend off a single breakball during the entire match and ultimately qualified confidently for the final. Here Ram / Salisbury meet the Briton Jamie Murray and the Brazilian Bruno Soares.

In the second semifinals of the day at Louis Armstrong Stadium, the two prevailed against John Peers and Filip Polasek in a thrilling game 6: 3, 3: 6 and 6: 4. Murray / Soares made the decisive break to 4: 3 in the third set.

The men's doubles final will take place on Friday at 6:00 p.m. CET at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
