Unbelievable but true: Rafael Nadal had not lost a single match in a Grand Slam tournament this year until the US Open. The triumphs in Melbourne and Roland Garros were followed by the injury-related withdrawal in Wimbledon after Nadal had put on a brilliant fighting performance against Taylor Fritz in the quarter-finals. The Spaniard found his champion in Frances Tiafoe: Tiafoe won 6: 4, 4: 6, 6: 4 and 6: 3 and now meets Andrey Rublev in the quarter-finals.
