Why Donna Vekic goes by the nickname "Last Call"
Spending a lot of time at airports? Unfortunately for tennis professionals there are some jobs. Donna Vekic doesn't think much of it, however.

Although she is usually not someone who is always late - at airports, however, things are often tight. Vekic explained this on a Croatian TV show, excerpts from which the Italian ubitennis.com translated .
"I don't feel like arriving at the airport three hours before departure," said the world number 32. "I don't get the point." An opinion that their coaches would never have understood. Nevertheless, it got very tight a few times, and so she, Vekic, was given the nickname "Last Call".
Once, she said, after a final in St. Petersburg, she went to bed late, at two in the morning. At five o'clock, on the other hand, they had to leave for the airport. She must have switched off the alarm clock in her sleep, but somehow her father got into the room, otherwise the flight would have been missed. "I was so crazy I put my shoes on, still in my pajamas. Fortunately, my dad prevented me from going out in that elevator."
Speaking of shoes, a sensitive topic on the WTA tour. Because Vekic is probably not alone when it comes to the "dangerous attraction" of heels. The problem: "I spend 90 percent of my time in tennis shoes. This is another reason why wearing heels is very dangerous for me," she explained. Especially since her feet are apparently still in good condition. Many players would need to bandage their joints before playing, but they still don't. After all, you have to work on strengthening all areas of the body, including this one.
