World number one Iga Swiatek had a lot of trouble in her second round match against lucky loser Lesley Pattinama Kerkhove (WTA No. 138), but ultimately won in three sets.

It was 6: 4, 4: 6 and 6: 3 after a good two hours for the 20-year-old - who, however, had to fight properly. She was 4-2 down in the first half and then took four games in a row to lead; the courageous Dutchwoman, however, manages to equalize the set. And had Swiatek back on the roll right at the beginning of the third set, but she didn't use a 15:40 when the Pole served. Swiatek then pulled away to make it 3:1 and didn't let this break go away.

She now meets Alizé Cornet, who was successful against Claire Liu.

Of course, a win is still a win, even for the seemingly unassailable Swiatek. She is now undefeated since February and has 37 straight wins.

The British Katie Boulter caused a surprise in the afternoon, she took last year's finalist Karolina Pliskova out of the tournament.
