"I'm trying to build my form. Wimbledon has been motivating my whole career, but it's not a matter of course that things go so well," said Djokovic after the game. "Ugo won against some great players. I had to study his game and adapt. I'm happy that I won in three sets."

From the beginning, Djokovic put the backhand of Humberts under pressure. The 21-year-old made too many mistakes there and offered his opponent chances to beat Winner. With a break to 3: 1 Djokovic got the first set after 33 minutes.

The second half was just two minutes longer, with Humbert increasingly struggling to play his serve games. A break to 2: 1 brought Djokovic in front quickly, another loss of service by Humberts after a marathon game to 5: 2 sealed the second set.

In the third set Humbert increased again on the serve, but did a very weak seventh game, which he gave up to zero.

Djokovic now faces David Goffin in the eleventh Wimbledon quarter-finals of his career on Wednesday, who defeated Fernando Verdasco in four sets. In the head-to-head with the Belgian, the 32-year-old is 5-1 in the front, but the last duel between the two was won by Goffin in Monte Carlo 2017.
