Will Wimbledon be played in June 2020?

The All England Club is "confident" that it will be able to increase ticket capacities beyond the minimum of 25 percent occupancy set last month, it said in a statement on Wednesday. The hope is based on the already completed and prospective easing of the corona restrictions in Great Britain.

The Grand Slam highlight on the "holy lawn" will take place from June 28th to July 11th. Last year, the traditional tournament was canceled for the first time since the Second World War because of the corona pandemic.

"However, we also understand that given the Indian variant, there is still much debate among government and health authorities on this issue and we aim to remain flexible in our approach so that we can respond appropriately," shared the Wimbledon organizers continue with.

Ticket sales are not expected to start until mid-June. This year there will be no queue due to the corona pandemic, advance ticket sales will only take place online. Further innovations are also planned.
