It has been a little more than ten years since Francesca Schiavone surprised the tennis world at Roland Garros - and won the title at the Bois de Boulogne in the final against Samantha Stosur (which was not necessarily expected there). Anniversary celebrations did not take place this year due to the Corona pandemic, but the memories still live on at Schiavone.

"I remember the moment before I got on the court to play the final," Schiavone told the WTA website. “I remember kissing the sand. When the match was over, I remember running up to hug my team. ”You have a lot of memories that wouldn't go away easily.

After her resignation, Schiavone initially tried to coach Caroline Wozniacki, but was quickly struck by cancer. Which she seems to have overcome at the moment. "Life goes on. I'm healthy now, I look healthy. I can't control the future because cancer is something that just attacks you. But I'm feeling fantastic right now. ”

For Francesca Schiavone, her latest job is in Milan at home. There she opened her own bistro called Sifá a few days ago. In view of the corona pandemic, the jubilee saved herself a big opening ceremony. “We start very slowly, intimately and privately. But we will have a very good quality in my bottega. ”
