Swiatek only had to work short-time in their quarter-finals: Danielle Collins, who had previously defeated defending champion Ashleigh Barty in two sets, was unable to continue playing with Swiatek 6: 2 and 3: 0. The Polish, who celebrated her biggest and so far only tournament victory on the WTA Tour in Roland Garros in autumn 2020, will meet Jil Teichmann in the semifinals. The Swiss fought off two match balls against Anastasija Sevastova, winning 6: 4, 6: 7 (8) and 7: 5.

Cori Gauff is also in the semi-finals. The only 16-year-old American defeated her compatriot Shelby Rogers 2: 6, 6: 4 and 6: 4. Gauff, who had to fight for her place in the main field through qualification, is now playing either against the Australian Storm Sanders or Belinda Bencic from Switzerland.
