According to the Daily Mail, Peng Shuai is said to have disappeared without a trace

A story that is scary and shocking at the same time, even if the confirmed information is currently still very thin: According to the British daily "Daily Mail", the former number one in women's doubles, Peng Shuai, appears after the allegations of assault against the Chinese top politician Zhang Gaoli disappeared from the scene.

WTA calls for a transparent investigation

As reported, the two-time Grand Slam winner via Weibo, the Chinese counterpart to Facebook, went public with serious allegations. According to her statements, the now 75-year-old ex-vice premier of the People's Republic of China forced her to have sex against her will several times. The much-noticed posting Pengs was online for less than 30 minutes before her entire account was deleted.

This week, WTA President Steve Simon called for the abuse allegations made by the 35-year-old top player to be investigated “completely, fairly and transparently”. Hopefully there will still be something to investigate in the next few weeks and months. The repressive communist government in China is not exactly known for its rule of law practices.
