"I don't think about the end of my career because I want to focus 100% on what I want to do in the present. I don't want to plan it either," said the 31-year-old in an interview with the Süddeutsche Zeitung (Saturday edition): " At some point the moment will come. I will not play tennis indefinitely. "

Recently, some of Kerber's companions had ended their careers, such as the Slovak Dominika Cibulkova or the Polish Agnieszka Radwanska. "It's a shame that some of my close friends are leaving. Young players are coming," said Kerber. "Sometimes when I look at the seed lists, there are names that I have never heard of - but of course they are good players, otherwise they would not be in the draw. You can tell that you are getting older," she added.

In addition to her sporting duties, Kerber will also be an ambassador for the new lawn tournament in Bad Homburg in the coming years. The special advantages are obvious for the German number one. "Above all, that it takes place on grass. Sand would have been good too, but it's not my heart. I didn't want anything huge either, but rather a family tournament, a boutique tennis tournament in a pleasant setting."
