Ashleigh Barty only needed 64 minutes to record the first great sense of achievement in the 2022 season. The local hero defeated Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan 6: 3 and 6: 2 in the final of the WTA Tour 500 tournament in Adelaide, underpinning her ambitions to win the Australian Open title after the 2019 French Open and Wimbledon 2021 fetch.

Like her rival, Barty hit six aces - and proved to be the better player, especially in the tight phases: While Rybakina could not use her two break opportunities, Barty took Rybakina's serve three times.

The world number one had taken a long break after the US Open, but now things are going very quickly for Barty. Because in the coming week she has also named for a tournament: In Sydney, Barty will start the race as number one, but will start the 500 event with a bye. Elena Rybakina will also compete there, who has been given an interesting opening task: Emma Raducanu, the reigning US Open Champion.
